My early perceptions

Flow through my mothers system

I was jamming to them so a tunes
Up in the womb
Then in 1983
When my mother gave birth
That's when I first heard the music
They create on this earth
Hospital radio
Headphones on my baby ears
Melodies soothe my baby tears
Then it's home time
Homeward bound our direction
Back to the record player
And old collection
Sweet soul sounds
And lovers rock
Reggae the foundation
I fell in love with Bob
He left before I was born in 83'
Yet his message translated
Directly into me
Now I'm up to my dad's knees
Begging him dad please
Could you put the Bob record
On the player for me
Time pass it's 89
Now I'm up in the mix
Left south
Went to west
A whole new bag of tricks
Just 6 years old
But deep like old soul
But my records got left behind
In my old home
Now I'm on a hiatus
Surrounded by haters
Like a fish out of water
So I'm weary of others
Then I met this real brother
Another music lover
Now it's Bob and MJ
Up in the tape player
Pots and pans
Drum kits with the SMA cans
Grab the wooden spoon
And play the drum kit with our hands
But then time moved on
And we all moved on
91' I'm with my mum
Playing lovers rock songs
Old Motown
And Bob still taking to me
Dubbing radio mixtapes in 1993
And then things got exciting
When I started writing
MC Steele 96'
Fast as lightning
96' Biggie and Pac dropped
We all hiphop
Nas and Wu Tang Clan
The cassettes was on lock
But in 1999
Is when I lost my mind
Because I discovered the keyboard
And perfected my rhyme
For the next few years
I was glued to my seat
Filling up cassette tapes
With weird and wonderful beats
Late nights with my boy RJ
Was my musical degree
I graduated as a real MC
Even though I loved music
I was trying to do me
So I decided to enrol in university
I put down the lyric book
And picked up the study book
Three years clocking knowledge
Was a really good look
Then in summer 06'
I was free as a bird
I was straight back on the rhymes
And the speed was absurd
First, second, third LP's
Back to back
Now four and five are coming
